The Cleghorn family have been breeding these unique cattle for six years on their
properties near Perth.
Dexters are a hardy little cattle breed that originated in Ireland. The first animals were imported into Australia at the turn of the century but it wasn’t until the late eighties and early nineties that the breed really took off here.
Their smaller size means they are less degrading to the land than bigger breeds and they are not fussy eaters.
But by far their best asset is that they are dual purpose animals,
hence the breed slogan: BEEFY LITTLE MILKERS
Glenwarlock’s animals are good natured;
the children handle them regularly and lead them in the show ring
and can often be seen kicking the football around in the paddock
amongst the herd. |
